CIOFF was established in Confolens (France) in 1970, thanks to the initiative and dynamism of its founder and president, Henri Coursaget. Its goals include CIOFF preserving popular tradition, preserving cultural heritage, improving the quality of International Folklore Festivals, developing international exchanges and finally developing friendship between the peoples of the world. About 250 festivals in 70 countries around the world operate under CIOFF regulations. One of them is the FESTIVAL of NAOUSSA since 1989. It is included in the International calendars of CIOFF and UNESCO with a high rating.
